Here is the Perfect Piece for the Consummate Organizer
History:
This is a handmade custom designed multi-functional tool, parts and hardware cabinet made by my Dad shortly after WW II. He was a World War II veteran in the Army Air Corp. and lived in Ohio. It has been in the family ever since and it is time to find it a new home.
Obviously, it is one-of-a-kind. This unique cabinet would be worth a roadtrip to purchase this special piece.
It can be delivered to Tucson for a delivery price.
Description:
It measures 5 ft.-1 inch tall • 3 feet wide • 8 inches deep. It is made of pine.
There are four columns of drawers here with each column containing 16 pull-out drawers. That makes 64 drawers total,
plus the big pull down storage cabinet at bottom which measures 3 ft. wide, 10.5 inches tall, and 8 inches deep.
Each drawer features a brass slip-in label holder to ID contents.
It was used for organizing all sizes of nuts, bolts, nails, parts, hardware, etc. as you can see from many of the original tabs marked on each drawer that are still there in the slot. The interior drawers feature different depths and divisions and sizes for storage and organizing.
Lots of the original hardware is still in these drawers! Solid brass and copper nails, clamps, etc.
This is the perfect piece for Wood Workers, Carpenters, Jewelry Designers, Artists, Hobbyists, Seamstress, Household Storage, Coin Collectors, or just show it off in your Workshop space! Endless uses!
Each drawer is marked along the side with its intended position in the cabinet. See detailed system in last few photos for this unique design feature.
Condition:
The outside has been cleaned and polished. Inside, the 64 drawers have not been cleaned, but because it has been in use, there are no bugs or cobwebs, maybe just some dust. The large bottom storage cabinet will need some adjustment in opening. It sticks a little bit.
A few drawers stick and will need some waxing for smoother operation, but they ALL come out. No alterations have been made.
The pull knobs are made from vertical wood attached with nails. One handle is off but it is there and can be re-attached.
The upper left top corner of chest has a gash in it. The upper right corner side has a split in it. Both issues are shown in photos.
This item is in Very Good Condition. Craigs List doesn't have such a category, so I noted it as Excellent--for its Age--
and better than "good" condition.
With just these few flaws, this piece is still in very sturdy, usable condition and is all in its original built condition from the 1940s.
Please look at all photos carefully for complete details.
It's worth a trip to Tubac to see this antique creation.
