Camper only --- $23,500, Camper with truck --- $46,000.
Offered for sale is a 2017 model Cirrus 820 truck camper in great, ready to go condition. (For an additional price you can drive it away on the 2016 Ram 3500 Heavy Duty 4wd diesel pickup truck that has carried it comfortably on our adventures).
This four-season camper is known for its quality construction, being built in Ohio by NuCamp's Amish craftsmen. We are its only owners, having purchased it new in 2017. Since then, it has performed beyond our expectations on excursions from Maine to San Diego, and from Florida to Oregon's Columbia River. The specs for this camper are readily available online (check out "TCM EXCLUSIVE: 2017 Cirrus 820") but here are some highlights:
- It's aluminum frame and AZDEL siding material are rugged and durable, the only wood in it being the cabinetry inside;
- Designed to fit on a standard sized short bed pickup, it will work on a 3/4 ton F250/2500 but is even better on a 1-ton F350/3500 Heavy Duty. (The RAM 3500 4wd diesel that is for sale with it didn't break a sweat in the Colorado mountains, and it averaged +/- 14 mpg on cross country trips at moderate 65 mph highway speeds);
- 4-season camper, we used it comfortably in all weather and temperatures. The windows are dual pane; the ALDE radiant heat is power efficient and whisper quiet, circulating heat through the camper and the holding tank areas, keeping the waste and fresh water tanks from freezing. The glycol circulating ALDE heating provides consistent heat and hot water. In the summer the a/c works off a single Honda 2000i type generator (or shore power, of course);
- The inside is bright and modern. Features include:
* queen sized "north/south" oriented bed on a Froli support system that adds comfort and keeps air circulating under the mattress. Over the sleeping area is a functional skylight for star gazing from bed;
* dual pane windows with combination insect/blackout shades;
* 2 burner propane stove top, microwave, adequate sink and 3 way fridge for cooking and clean up needs;
* wet bath with fold up sink and hand held shower head (plus outdoor shower head);
* plenty of storage inside in numerous cabinets, drawers, bolsters on either side of the bed, under the dinette seats and a hanging closet;
* power efficient led lighting;
* TV and sound system with 6 speakers (two in the sleeping area, two in the main cabin and two outside;
- The raising/lowering/levelling jacks are operated wirelessly, as is the passenger side awning. There is a second manual awning over the back door;
- on the rear you'll find a wireless back up camera and ladder, with a diamond plate bumper and foldout rear steps;
- Two propane tanks and two batteries (new last season); wired input for Zamp portable solar;
Since we've owned the camper we've visited the factory in Ohio and had the basement re-built and reinforced as NuCamp itself has done on newer models. In the last six months we've repainted the front nose cap and had the roof resealed. We removed the original 5 piece access panels on the basement and replaced them with a 2 piece aluminum diamond plate cover. We installed a "high altitude" kit for the propane system to insure quiet operation at higher altitudes. We also dealt with the inevitable minor warranty issues, replacing the bathroom fan, the screen door, and the water pump. The camper is ready to go.
A new 2025 Cirrus 820 (with changes not all of which in our opinion are "upgrades") sports a price in the upper $40k to lower $50k neighborhood. Snatch this one up at $23,500 while you can.
Alternatively, get this camper together with a meticulously maintained 2016 Ram 3500 Crew Cab 4wd diesel Tradesman pickup, barely broken in at 130,000 miles, for a total of $46,000. Why spend $50,000+ for just a camper when you can get a well-maintained camper/truck combination with a proven track record for less money?
