50mm f2.8 Jena semi-auto lens in Exacta mount. This is probably a Zeiss Tessar made in the Jena plant in Russian occupied Germany during the late 1950's or 1960's. 'Semi-auto' means you cock the diaphragm to open it to full aperture, and the shutter release will close it to whatever you've pre-set. This Exacta bayonet mount fits Exacta, Topcon, Contax D, Hexacon, and a variety of cameras that adopted this first SLR bayonet mount in photographic history. It can also be used as a semi-telephoto lens with a C-mount adaptor, which I stock as an optional separate purchase, on a variety of C-mount 16mm cameras. The 50mm focal length is considered a 'normal' lens for 35mm work covering approximately 45 degree angle of view, the same as seen by the fovea of the human eye.
