FOR SALE IS AN EKO RANGER 12-STRING GUITAR. BELIEVED TO BE FROM THE EARLY 70S, THIS INSTRUMENT IS A COLLECTOR'S DREAM. CONDITION IS 90%+.
DURING THE 60S AND 70S, EKO OF ITALY WAS THE PREMIER GUITAR MANUFACTURER IN EUROPE. CLAPTON, RICHARDS, WOOD, MAY, JAGGER, MECURY, AND MANY OTHER STARS OWNED EKO GUITARS.
- Originally purchased by US traveler in Madrid, Spain. Music shop sticker and signed Italian luthier soundhole label intact.
- Overall condition is amazing. Most important is that this example has nearly zero finish cracks or checkering that plagued
European guitars of this era.
- Color and wood grain is unparalleled. Some appropriate age wear present.
- Bolt-on neck is straight. Frets are healthy with no sprout.
- Ahh... Keeping it real, the original owner's DL# is lightly etched in the stainless bolt-on neck plate. This is pure 70s history when
local police "Operation ID" programs went into effect to engrave everything of value to discourage theft.
- Eko proprietary steel "Zero Fret" is essentially a permanent nut, gauged and set at the factory. Amazing sustain.
- Fully adjustable bridge is level and has all original string pegs.
- Fretboard inlays are flat and intact.
- Thick, tortoise pickguard is flat and solid against soundboard.
- D-string octave tuner is tweaked but turns. Perhaps repairable. Eko recently reissued modern copy of this instrument and parts are presumed to be interchangeable.
- Stored without strings. When (original?) strings were removed, guitar was tuned up and played. Perfectly easy-playing, low action with no buzz at higher frets.
- Set of Elixer 12 Phosphor Bronze strings included.
Priced to sell. You may not find a better example of this guitar at any price.
$600. No case.
