From my private collection, this is a pro-level Gretsch G6175 acoustic/electric 4-string bass guitar that was produced in 1990.
Orange Japanese-made long-scale acoustic bass guitar. Spruce top, maple hollow body and set neck, rosewood fingerboard, dot markers, triangle sound hole with floral rosary, ebony bridge with Piezo pickup and active preamp, gold tuners, strung with Phosphor Bronze acoustic bass strings. Gretsch hard case.
Gretsch G6175 Single Cutaway, Limited run Acoustic Electric Bass. Acoustic Bass with Piezo under-saddle pickup and onboard electronics. Nice quality and that unique Gretsch vibe! These early Japanese crafted models are becoming very hard to find, quite rare and are a huge value!
Some details: Single Cutaway body, spruce top, triangle sound-hole, three stripe bound body, floral pattern rosette, maple back/sides/neck, X-Bracing, 24-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlay, pearl scroll inlay at 12th fret, rosewood strings-through-bridge, bound blackface head-stock with pearl logo inlay, two-per-side gold tuners, active ceramic pickup, controls: volume, treble, midrange & bass, hardware gold-plated, Gloss Urethane finish, Grover A Imperial/Gold Plated Die Cast Tuners, multiple body bindings, knurled strap retainer knobs, adjustable truss rod, Gretsch Orange Stain finish, Case: Gretsch hard shell velvet lined case with Gretsch logo.
This bass plays perfectly and has just had a complete set up to my liking, which means the brand-new strings are quite low, but they can easily be raised if you prefer. The battery is good, and the electronics work really well.
Condition: In very good condition, with surface scratches hardly visible. Case in good shape with a worn area along the top edge (see photos).
This bass has been played lightly & carefully and has spent most of its time in the case. Minor oxidation on gold tuners. Neck is smooth, straight & feels good… Case is clean & in great shape with all 6 latches working. Newly setup by a Luthier, neck adjusted, fretboard cleaned & dressed, new 9-volt battery installed along with a new set of D'Addario phosphor bronze acoustic bass strings. Body is light with unique arm cut that makes this bass very comfortable to play.
Plugged in – this bass sounds “huge” for an acoustic electric bass – very impressive – and of course – that Great Gretsch Sound!!! Bass comes with case, polishing cloth, an extra set of Fender 45 strings, etc. A very hard to find bass especially in this condition.
