As a Carpenter at Ascent Aviation Services, you’ll work alongside a skilled and dedicated team to help construct, repair, and maintain the essential woodwork, fixtures, and infrastructure that keep our facilities running efficiently and safely. You’ll apply your craftsmanship to a wide variety of tasks, from building and repairing sipping crates and aircraft cradles to installing partitions, doors, flooring, and cabinetry, all while ensuring a clean, safe, and organized workspace. This position is vital in supporting the expansion of our operations, including the launch of our 777 program and new hangar facilities.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Constructs and repairs structural woodwork and equipment working from blueprints, drawings, or oral instructions.
Builds, repairs, and installs shipping crates, cradles, shoring, counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, and building framework and using trim using carpenter’s hand tools and power tools.
Installs glass in windows, doors, and partitions.
Replaces damaged ceiling tile, floor tile, and wall coverings.
Performs cement work.
Maintains log of materials used and hours worked.
Maintains and repairs tools.
Ensures that shop area is clean and free from hazards, and that all work performed is done in a safe manner, including directing activities in a manner that protects employee from harm.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Ability to organize and plan work adhering to deadlines.
Working knowledge of principles of carpentry.
Attention to detail and mathematical skills.
Ability to read, write, and understand the English language and the ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
Ability to interpret and apply technical data relating to position.
Ability to safely drive and operate a manual shift automotive vehicle and other applicable equipment.
Ability to work with and without supervision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Post-secondary education or equivalent training in carpentry required.
Five years’ experience in all phases of carpentry highly preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Valid driver’s license required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires frequent bending, stooping, and reaching above shoulder level.
Requires occasional climbing, crouching, kneeling, and balancing.
Requires frequent lifting and carrying weight up to 35 pounds and occasional pushing or pulling weight up to 50 pounds unassisted.
Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED:
Carpenter’s hand tools, power tools, cement, and roofing equipment.
May be required to operate additional carpentry equipment not explicitly listed in this description as needed to perform job duties effectively.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work primarily in the carpenter shop, maintenance hangars, and housing areas.
Potential hazards include exposure to materials listed on Material Safety Data Sheets, exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, desert wildlife and insects, and working around moving machinery.
Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, gloves, safety belts, and protective clothing.
OTHER DUTIES:
May be required to work at both Marana, AZ and Tucson, AZ locations as business needs dictate.
Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of department management.
