GRAPE VINES are here! C'mon, Eco, they're hard to grow, some say. Not true. It's easy to get bunches of grapes.
1. Concord: used as table grapes, wine grapes and juice grapes
2. Niagra: great table grapes and for wines, as well as jams and juice
3. Thompson seedless: Perfect for fresh eating or drying into golden raisins.
4. Alachua Muscadine: deep purple to black fruit, which are used for fresh eating, making jellies, and wine.
5. Muscadine Carlos: self-fertile variety, making it easy to grow, and it's widely used for juice, jam, and wine production
6. Southern home PP9 454: This grape is adapted as an ornamental, dooryard grape that could be grown on arbors around patios and as borders on fences, with nice flavorful grapes.
7. Welder Muscadine: high yields of good quality berries. Sweet.
All of these grapes make great shade plants if you build a structure. Easy.

*** HUMMINGBIRDS! Yes, they depend upon us. Why? Because they would normally migrate to warmer climes South of us. But, because of us feeding them in the Winter, they don't migrate but they need us and the food we give them since there are no flowers or small insects available to them. So, fill your feeders all the time with the following mixes: 6 parts water and 2 parts White Sugar. Not the red crap. Put hot water in a pan or whatever and then add the white sugar. My hummingbirds are happy and healthy. It's cold...feed the Hummers, for sure.

*** WILDFLOWER AND DESERT PLANT SEEDS: Plant them now for beautiful flowers. So, easy. Rough up the dirt with a rake. Add some soil or compost and mix the seeds in. Keep watering every day for at least a week. They'll start sprouting. Just keep watering a bit each week until they are bigger. Give them water each week. From Horny Toad Seeds.

*** What's so special about your garden starts, Eco? non-GMO, Organic, Sonoran Desert adapted!
*** A few more things before we hit the veggies hard core: Composting! We have two types of composters that work great. Ask us! The "Soil Saver" and the "Terra Tumbling" composters. So cool.
*** Worm Bins are the way to go. Keep them in the house and you'll have all the worms, castings, tea and egg cases you can handle, Red Wigglers, all year. The Worm Bins are clean and work well indoors.
*** MOSQUITO PROBLEMS: EcoGro can help. Have you heard about BTI, or Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis? BTI kills mosquito larvae without harming pets, fish or your plants. Within 24 hours BTI starts working. We have BTI filled MOSQUITO DUNKS which float in ponds, bird baths and standing water in general and actively kill mosquito larvae for at least 30 days. We also carry MOSQUITO BITS which can be spread around the surface soil of pots, wet spots in your yard or saucers under plants. and it kills the critters for at least two weeks.
....... Do you have Fungus Gnats? You know, those "fruit flies" flying around your house and coming from the soil in indoor plants. MOSQUITO BITS also kill Fungus Gnats larvae! One teaspoon per pot will work. Just mix into the surface of the plant soil. The BTI starts killing the pesky Fungus Gnat larvae.
........ Prevention of Mosquitos: Empty all buckets, saucers, baby pools and anything that holds water after a rain. Turn them upside down. Tell your neighbors about it.
*** OK. EcoGro is a one-stop gardening shop. Organic/heirloom garden starts. Tried and true food plants! (Most garden starts only $4 when you buy two or more unless marked otherwise) I mean we have the coolest garden plants, really!
*** QUICK NOTE ABOUT PLANT AVAILABILITY: The plants are constantly changing at EcoGro because we have so many at our greenhouses but the store can hold only so much at a time. We are trying to keep as many varieties in the store but they may be at our greenhouses. *** GARDEN REVIEW! SO, ECOGRO, WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR ME?
1. SHADE CLOTH: often a necessity in Tucson's Summer. We have 30%, 50%, 70% and 90% SUN block. 50% is really the best.
2. SEEDS AND FRUIT TREES: Organic, Heirloom and non-GMO SEEDS from Botanical Interests seed company. My favorite since they are heirloom seeds that will do very well in Southern Arizona. Cool Fruit Trees. Google them, please. Cannabis seeds, autoflower and photoperiod, too.
3. FERTILIZERS: Nutrients up the wazoo. Organic. So many, so good, so inexpensive.
4. ORGANIC PESTICIDES: Organic and safe pesticides. Did you know "Caterpillar Killer" works and is really organic...Bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki...finishes off only caterpillars. Do you have fungus gnats in your house? Easy to get rid of them. BTI, for mosquitos and fungs gnats. They work, for real. So, we have cool and safe pesticides. We have good stuff. Azamax for example, (from the "Magic Beans" industry) is so safe and effective.
5. TOOLS: Gardening and hand tools ... really inexpensive. You know that you have weeds out there.
6. GEOPOTS! For sure. Fabric, long-lasting, pots that really make the roots grow lots more. The better the roots, the better the plant! Inexpensive...really.
7. Mycorrhizae. ! ? Google this and be amazed.
8. Cannabis seeds and everything you need to grow, fertilize and harvest. Check when we have cannabis classes.
*** OMG! I don't want to forget the ORGANIC NUTRIENTS we carry. For "Magic Beans" GROWS (grow tools, too). For fruit trees. For GARDENS, indoors or outdoors or greenhouses. For AQUAPONICS. HEY, WE WILL HAVE SOME GOOD STUFF FOR YOU!
1. GEOPOTS, fabric pots, are back! Inexpensive and long lasting. OK, EcoGro, why should I care? Easy! The pot fabric causes the roots to "prune" themselves so many more roots grow, and they are the fine roots that transport food and water for the plants. Just remember: more roots, more plants! This does not happen in plastic or ceramic pots. Plus, GeoPots last years. They do not fall apart. Surprisingly cheap and they last as long as a traditional plastic pot.

*** WAIT. WAIT. What the heck does "HEIRLOOM" mean, EcoGro? It means the plant is a traditional variety which is not associated with large-scale commercial farming and its breeding programs. "non-GMO" means that the genetics of the plant have not been messed with. What about GMO: Think pretty and round tomatoes that ship really well but have GIVEN UP THE TASTE in the genetic fussing; that's bad. You want non-GMO and tasty HEIRLOOMS. Oh, ours are also ORGANIC and LOCALLY GROWN!
*** BAT GUANO? "Undisputed Champion" of all natural fertilizers. Sounds weird, I know, but true. Nitrogen rich and full of soil enrichers. More than just a fertilizer. The higher nitrogen levels are responsible for fast, green growth. Phosphorus aids with root and flower development while potassium provides for the plant’s overall health. This guano is only from fruit and insect eating species.

REMEMBER: EcoGro will show you how to grow all garden plants, including the very cool unusual varieties. Grow them right! So easy! Mycorrhizae (homework assignment, for great roots), Organic fertilizers, Organic pesticides (I know that's a bad word, but we can help you get rid of bugs organically), Compost, so much stuff like trace minerals! *** YOU NEED TO FEED HUMMINGBIRDS. Maintain your feeders. You need one for your hummers. (EcoGro sells some good ones.) They need food when it gets cold. Many stopped migrating to warmer climates since people are feeding them. WHAT DO I FEED THE HUMMERS? Sugar and water, that's all. 4 parts water, 1 part WHITE sugar. I fill up a container with 6 cups hot tap water, adding the 1 1/2 cups sugar and stir until it dissolves. That easy! (Don't use those horrible red mixes.) I feed them all year even though when you hear them they are probably yelling at you. Some say they are not nice, but they are beautiful.
*** ATTENTION! Check out the VINEGAR for WEED KILLING organically! What? 30% Vinegar, industrial strength, 300 grain white vinegar. Herbicide recipes. "Vinegarize those weeds." We could suggest a few.
You CAN garden! Be it in the ground, raised beds, Aquaponics or in Pots. It is amazing how much you can grow. We are here for you! Fertilizers and other nutrients really work. Try WORM CASTINGS (worm poop) for healthier soils and better plants. (We do have Bat Poop, too. Surprisingly great for gardens.) Organic pesticides!
COCONUT HUSK CHIPS for Soil and Compost: What? Yep! Stops soil compaction. Promotes root growth. It just works in so many applications. (Super mulch, too.)
By the way, "Organic" does not mean it costs more like at Sprouts or Trader Joes. It just means we make sure they are organically grown. Simple. We have the garden plants you want and ours are Heirloom and Organic and grow better in Tucson. Most Garden Starts are only $4.00 each if you buy two or more.
