Huge bold and cheerful tribal style Afghani kelim woven by hand on a loom.
A fairly contemporary textile as it is in mint condition and has not been used.
Pristine and perfect!
The vivid colors include lime green, gold, purple, brown and a salmon pink.
This is a tribal handwoven kelim, a type of flat-weave textile, and not a typical pile rug. (I have a similar 8 ft. by 10 ft. one as well. Also, a 12 ft. by 9 ft. kilim woven in earth tone colors such as brown, olive, tan, etc.)
It would be perfect for covering and decorating a hard floor such as cement or tile, and could be used for yoga, a children's play mat, or quietly sitting and sipping tea.
It could even be mounted on the wall as a tapestry as it's much lighter than a pile rug.
Kilims are favored by nomadic tribal people because they are easier to fold and carry than pile rugs. They are placed on the ground and used to sit on, eat, and drink tea.
The exact size is 14 ft. 2 in. by 10 ft. 2 in.
I have a large storage unit full of handmade Persian, tribal, oriental, Turkish, Caucasian, etc rugs that I am hoping to sell at very moderate prices. Collected over two decades, there are many sizes from runners and mats to room size.
