This is the 2nd A-109 in the last 2 months I have rehabbed. the other one I sold is working great and the buyer loved it!
Killer Cool Cassette deck! I am including a Cassette tape I recorded on this A-109 machine! It is some of my favorite songs from 50 years of working in the biz. Songs are 1960's to 2015.
There is scratches... I tried to take pics of the worst. But if you are looking for a "gently used, not perfect visually" but, fully functional with another life left functionally on this cool machine... This is it!
I am a 65 year old sound engineer by trade but picked up some mad tape machine repair/maintenance skills along the way.
If you have a cassette deck or turntable in need of rehab here in LOCAL Tucson I can help you out.
Here is a list of all the things done to a machine I rehab before selling.
1 All belts replace that month/year
2 Oil/lube all gears and movements that that call for it.
3 Use "Deoxit" rubber conditioner on all wheels
4 Use "Deoxit" fader lube on all volume/record level potentiometers
5 Use "Deoxit" gold on every connector inside and out.
6 Thoroughly clean heads and all tape paths with denatured alcohol.
7 Clean and vacuum inside/out.
(FYI "Deoxit" brand is the highest end of electronic rehab sprays and liquid treatments)
By the time I am done I would be surprised if I clear minimum wage for the per hour profit to rehab cool electronics. But it is a labor of love and I can do over morning coffee... Ha!
