This is a mid-century imported, hand painted in the Sasumia style, Japanese fishpot. It is in perfect condition, no chips or scratches and only minor wear on bottom ring from sitting on floors. It is approximately 14 inches high and the outside diameter at the top is approximately 16 inches, with a 14 inch diameter opening. The pot is decorated with painted panels of Chinese Mergansers and the decorations include raised gold lines and beautifully colored peonies. It is a heavy piece weighing about 27 pounds and because of the koi fish paintings on the interior we used it with a glass top as a small accent table. the gold is untarnished and the colors are vibrant.
