Up for grabs is our made-in-Tucson La Suprema cargo bike. It's a steel framed, twin top tube, artsy bike built by Ed Foster in the early 2000s. We've owned it since our kids were born, although we aren't the original owners. It's a fancy bike, sure, but we've used it as a cargo bike (even toured through Spain and France with Kid #1 hanging out on the back). The paint is dingered up here and there, and the seat post has scratches from a variety of riders enjoying it, but I've kept it in mechanical excellence.
Here's the run down:
-Steel frame made in Tucson
-Surly Extraterrestrial tires 26"x2.5" mounted to Mavic rims, tubeless
-XTR V-brakes up front, disc in rear
-Shimano dynamo hub with IQ-X light (it's German and it's good)
-1x8 Shimano Alfine rear hub mated to a thumb shifter (Bushnell bottom bracket keeps the chain tight)
-Plastic Xtracycle platform cut for a kids seat (comes with a custom mesquite slab too)
I'm 5'10" and rode this thing from Barcelona to Saint-Jean-du-Luz and was comfortable the whole time. I think this bike is for riders between 5'5" and 5'10", no taller. Because the seat post is so slack the cockpit gets smaller quickly when you lower the seat, which accommodates a lot of body types.
The kids are all on their own bikes now and this doesn't get nearly as much use as it should, so it's time to turn it over to another Tucson owner.
