Stunning Nottingham built fully restored Raleigh bike for sale or trade for a quality mountain bike, dual suspension preferred.
If you love vintage racing bikes this is a two owner Raleigh Clubman/Record Ace imported from England by the first owner. It was made in the Nottingham factory in their last year of production and was originally sold in a bike shop 50km south of the factory in 1984. I know that because the decal from the shop was on it when I got it, but unfortunately I wasn't able to save it when the bike was repainted.
It has the well known Reynolds 531 frame, a Sugino crankset and derailleurs that are in exceptional condition for their age, as are the original 27" Weinman wheels. Frame size is 60cm and from the top bar to the ground is 34 1/2", so it's for someone close to 6' or a little over. Part of the reason I'm selling it is due to having long legs and a high inseam, so I need a bigger frame to be comfortable. This is a super fast and agile bike too by the way, the frame geometry is made for agility, and it is extremely responsive.
I bought it 5 years ago and had it stripped down to the frame and fully restored, including a new paint job and new old stock parts because the old ones were rusted from it's time in FL. The original Claret wasn't available but I found a very close match with a Chrysler color and I have a touch up pen in that color.
I sourced parts from four different countries to do this restoration, including Canada, England, Australia and the US, and as you can see in the pictures she is a real beauty. If you've ever been on one of these you know they're nimble as a fox and they fly like the wind, so this bike will bring you a lot of riding pleasure.
Here's a list of what was done:
* Complete New Paint with Clear coat
* New OEM Decals
* New brake and shift cables and housing
* New front brake cable stop
* New rear brake cable stop
* Cleaned And Repacked all bearings
* Polished all aluminum
* New tubes and tires
* New brake pads
* New downtube thumb shifters
* New quick release skewers front and rear
* New Chain
* New pedals
* New seat
* New handlebar tape
* New handlebar end caps from Raleigh
I have over $500 invested in the restoration alone so she's worth the asking price, but I am also open to cash offers, crypto or silver bullion. I'm also open to trades for a quality mountain bike (preferably fully suspended) or a partial trade or a full trade for Silver Bullion.
There probably isn't another one like it in the entire country. All she needs now is a new owner so get in touch and make me an offer or let me know what you have in trade.
