This is an early 19th century British strong box safe with the Royal Coat of Arms. Mounted on the front of the box is an ornately designed Royal Coat of Arms signifying the United Kingdom. This, along with the words Bauche Brevete S.G.D.G, which stands for Breveté Sans Garantie Du Gouvernement, or patent without government guarantees. The motto “Dieu et mon droit” (God and my right) written in the center of the box adds character and aesthetic appeal.
The lock mechanism is located on the left-hand side of the door, which also sports an original type key. This strong box was designed for safe keeping of jewelry, money, documents, and other such valuables and is very heavy for its size. The strong box measures 14-1/8w x 10-1/4d x 7-1/4h, with inside dimensions of approximately 11-1/4w x 4-3/4h.
