There are several positions available in the Tucson and Marana area at various units.
The success of Army missions depends on keeping automotive and heavy equipment in top working condition. As an integral member of the Mechanical Maintenance team, the Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic handles the maintenance and repair of vehicles such as jeeps, cars and trucks.
The Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic is primarily responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and recovery operations on light-wheeled vehicles and associated items, as well as heavy-wheeled vehicles.
Some of your duties as a Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic may include:
Maintaining power-assisted brake systems, wheeled vehicle suspension systems, wheel/hub assemblies and wheeled vehicle hydraulic steering systems
Troubleshooting problems in vehicle engines, electrical systems, steering, brakes and suspensions
Tuning and repairing engines
Replacing or repairing damaged body parts
Establishing and following schedules for maintaining vehicles
Training
Job training for a Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic consists of 9 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 10 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. The total 19 weeks of initial training is paid full time training. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.
Some of the skills you learn are:

Eligibility
Must be between 17-41 years of age and have a high school diploma, GED or no GED. Must be able to pass a police background check with no more than 1 misdemeanor arrest and or very few traffic violations. You must also be able to score 31 or higher on the ASVAB test. A valid drivers license is required.
Felonies are not accepted, no exceptions
Prior military service applicants may have different criteria and/or have the ability to change their MOS
Must be a US Citizen or legal US Resident

This is an excellent employment opportunity for someone who has the ability to travel, enjoys being on the road and can be away from home for extended periods of time.
Our 2-person or 3-person Crews travel by van throughout the continental United States, working on cleaning projects from 2 – 8 days at a time. Crews stay on the road for 3 months at a time, traveling to multiple hotels within a regional area. After the 3 months Crews receive a 1 week “home” break and then are scheduled back out for another 3 months.
